Abstract

Manifesting the faith for the congadeiros is beyond believing in the sacred, but is intimately connected with the way they lead their lives and how it reflects to those who are around, with those who share their social and religious community. Obviously, this relationship does not happen without raids, without confrontations, everything is far from perfection and passivity. Each group has its difficulties, but they also have a strong desire to spread their culture, their memories and their traditions that have been forged and rearranged from the African diaspora. A way of not only surviving but integrating society. A form not only of struggle, but of experiencing their religiosity, of manifesting their faith. The talk of the main actors of the Congado in the cities of Ouro Preto and Conselheiro Lafaiete is the great highlight of this research, since it evokes a return of the importance of orality and memory in this social group, as well as evokes a protagonism that was rarely allowed to the have access to this society.
