Sequência de ensino investigativo sobre saneamento básico

Abstract

Basic sanitation consists of a set of fundamental actions for the socioeconomic development of a region. Promoting actions ranging from the supply of potable water to waste treatment is essential to ensure the quality of the environment and, consequently, for human beings. Educating the population to raise awareness of these measures and reinforcing their importance for health is a fundamental role of school education. In this context, the present study aimed to apply an investigative teaching sequence on the theme of basic sanitation for 3rd-year high school students from a public school in the State of Minas Gerais, in the city of Governador Valadares. The study is characterized as qualitative research. The didactic sequence included six classes and was based on the investigative approach perspective, comprising the axes of problematization, systematization, contextualization, and evaluation. As a result, the students could identify, discuss, and actively share, as well as contextualize the problems, causes, and consequences of basic sanitation in the neighborhoods where they live. Additionally, the students participated in the creation of an e-book addressing aspects related to basic sanitation. These stages, therefore, contributed to critical thinking, which is fundamental for the full exercise of citizenship.
