Abstract: The present work aims to analyze in a selected group of satires by Gregório de Matos, seventeenth-century Brazilian poet, from Paul Tillich's Theology of Culture, seeking in them the religious element within the theologian's conception of religion, while depth dimension of life. In this sense, religion for Tillich is to be deeply concerned, Ultimate concern, with what touches being ultimately. This concern may unfold beyond the institutional spheres of religion, in the most intimate movements of the soul, through culture, because according to him, there is no cultural creation that does not express the supreme concern. Therefore, in a mode that does not present a traditionally religious form, religious content may be hidden and needs to be revealed, and theology must seek to understand the in-depth questions that are being asked, often out of them, to fulfill their prophetic and missionary role. In the conclusion of this work it is recorded that by taking as a parameter Tillich's conception of religion and the foundations of his Theology of Culture, it is possible to recognize or contribute to revealing the religious dimension in the most diverse forms of art.
