Educação Financeira Escolar e o uso de planilhas de Orçamento Familiar

Abstract

This study is the result of a master's research developed by the Graduate Program in Mathematical Education of the Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. The research activities were carried out in a Minas Gerais’ inland city with students from the 3rd year of high school in a state school, where the researcher was also a teacher of the class. The main focus of the research was to stimulate the use of budget worksheets so that through their analysis students could better plan their finances and also feel prepared to collaborate in the administration of their family's money. The research is characterized as qualitative, adopting the presuppositions of Didactic Engineering. The theoretical reference adopted is based on the Theory of Didactic Situations and the aspects of Financial Education School. The Educational Product of the research is constituted by the activities that were carried out, to serve as support to the teachers of the High School who wish to use it in the classes. The activities were carried out in several stages, some being individual, others in a group, some at home with the family and others in the classroom. The initial purpose of the activities was to understand the students' knowledge about budgeting so that, from this, theoretical discussions on the topic could be carried out, in order to encourage them to make use of the monthly expenses sheets. In addition, it was also appropriate for students to analyze the data from various worksheets and to develop their own. Thus, at the end of the work we realized that they were improving the way of elaborating their worksheets according to the discussions and understood the importance of these worksheets for a better control, administration and planning of the expenses.
