Pátio escolar infantil: considerações acerca das escolas municipais de Juiz de Fora - MG

Abstract

It is notorious a growing concern regarding the physical spaces of children's schools, but when it comes to external areas, more specifically school yards, there is only a few researches about it. However, some authors point out the value of these spaces in children's development, because they allow the child's contact with the outdoor and the socialization with each other. In view of this context, the present research had as objective to identify the situation of the children 's schoolyards of the Municipal Schools of Juiz de Fora - MG, quantifying and qualifying the elements found in these spaces. So, it was made a bibliographical review of the topics considered relevant in children’s school yard and, by these data, it was developed a protocol of technical evaluation of these spaces. The protocol was applied in municipal schools that provides children's education in the city. The analyzes of the data found were performed according to the reference literature. The results of this research showed a diagnosis about the situation of physical spaces in the school yards, being possible to indicate the positive and negative aspects, contributing to the discussion of the value of free spaces in schools.
