Loucos de amor: a poesia nas palavras de Teresa de Jesus

Abstract

In this work we will analyze, based on the literary work of Teresa de Jesus, the connections existing between his writings in the form of poetry and his prose. First, we will talk about his mystical experience, as well as the difficulty encountered by the mystic in expressing, in words, what is experienced as a spiritual experience. We understand that throughout his literary production his texts were true poetic expressions of what she was felling in experience of meeting the Beloved. Thus we will analyze in particular three poems: On Those Words, and we will make the connection of him with the fifth abode of the spirit narrated by Teresa in The Interior Castle. Another poem will be Oh! beauty Exceed and its relation with the sixth abode of the soul and, finally, the poem Soul It looks for in me and the way experienced by the soul in the seventh abode. And, in the end, we will deal with the nuptials of the soul with the Beloved, with the feeling of surrender and abandonment in inflamed language and in the holy follies of the crazy of love.
