Duas visões de Brasil: Darcy Ribeiro e Florestan Fernandes à luz das linguagens da modernidade

Abstract

The present study compares the different views of Brazil between Darcy Ribeiro and Florestan Fernandes. As a starting point for this objective, the dissertation is based on the methodological "historical contextualism" developed by the Cambridge School, giving special attention to the notion of language policies formulated by Pocock (2002b). Thus, this approach is considered the same historical context in which Ribeiro and Fernandes were inserted, in which stands a turbulent scenario in national politics. Situational assessments, and responses to structural problems the country was going through, despite being approached from different perspectives by the authors were formulated through language "institutionalized, " making them understandable at a time in which they lived and could be compared in ours. Bringing the historical approach to the field of social theory, this thesis works with the languages of modernity developed by Rubem Barbosa Filho (2007), as resource theory / methodology capable of capturing the thoughts of various structures present in Darcy Ribeiro and Florestan Fernandes. In that sense, this paper does not seek simply to counter the different analytical categories and key ideas that are part of the argumentative logic of these authors, but demand highlighting them as sublanguages that explain their world views.
