Environmental, social and government (ESG) no Brasil: uma revisão bibliométrica

Abstract

The present study aims to conduct a review and analysis of the evolution of literature related to the adoption of ESG practices and their relationship with the Brazilian context. The goal is to identify gaps, trends, and insights in the subject. To achieve this purpose, a descriptive study was conducted, employing a bibliometric approach. The analysis encompassed an extensive list of published research, utilizing the Scopus and BDTD databases. Statistical and content tools were applied to identify peculiarities in the sample. The conclusions of this study reveal temporal, geographical, institutional, and segmentation aspects related to ESG. It was observed that developed countries lead discussions on the topic, indicating a significant growth in the relevance of ESG in recent times on the global stage. The most prominent research areas focus on finance and business, reflecting the increasing intersection between sustainability and business practices. In the Brazilian context, there is potential for the expansion of research. The country stands out among Latin American nations. FGV (Getulio Vargas Foundation) was highlighted as a reference on the subject in the country, while public agencies fostering scientific production play a crucial role in the evolution of ESG research in Brazil. The participation of China on the international stage is also highlighted as one of the main trends on the subject.
