Laminados cerâmicos confeccionados através do fluxo digital ou convencional: uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

The current demand for aesthetic treatments has had a huge impact on restorative dentistry, in which patients are looking for a more harmonious and beautiful smile. Within this, laminated veneers are a more conservative alternative for the aesthetic rehabilitation of teeth, and when associated with ceramic materials, provides excellent clinical results. The conventional technique is the most common method for fabrication of laminates and allows good clinical results, however, with the development of new technologies, improvement of techniques and dental materials, the digital workflow has emerged. The objective of this work was to review and deepen the scientific knowledge about aesthetic restorations with ceramic veneers made using the digital and conventional techniques, analyzing the advantages, limitations, indications and ceramic materials most used in this rehabilitation. The conventional technique uses impressions made with addition silicones to make working models, however, this method may cause misfits in the final restoration. The digital technique, on the other hand, scans regarding the whole dental arch and uses CAD/CAM software for designing and milling the restoration, allowing a preview of the final result, which enables the correction of possible mistakes, facilitates communication between members of the team and with the patient, however, it also has limitations, such as the high cost of purchasing the necessary equipment and software, the demand for a learning curve for professionals to use the system and the difficulty of detecting deep marginal lines. In this way, it is noted that the digital and conventional methods provide good results, both of which have limitations, which is why the skill of the dentist and the correct sequencing of the steps is imperative.
