“Creio na Ressurreição do corpo”: a centralidade do corpo no pensamento de Rubem Alves

Abstract

This work seeks to contribute to research in Religious studies; it proposes to analyze the thought of Rubem Alves, intending to find ways of rehabilitating the body in its eroticism to understand the human world and the construction of epistemes that consider the being beyond a relationship of dominion over the world that is external to them. In this sense, we went through Alves' thought seeking to understand the ways in which the body was conceptualized, especially from modernity onwards, and how certain assumptions of this modernity corroborated for a vision of the body in disconnection from the outside world. In the pursuit of an indelible objectivity, a whole set of the symbolic and subjective human world was being thrown into the field of what were considered illusions. Religion, which was included in this illusory set, was also interpreted in Alves as a way in which human beings seek to overcome the brute reality of their world and can then weave new networks of meanings in the face of the anomie that each time imposes on them. In these terms, religion and body were construed as belonging to each other insofar as the former was constituted for the latter as a way of expressing desires for the humanization of the world, familiarizing the being with their experience.
