Alunos bolsistas em colégio de elite: entre oportunidades e desafios

Abstract

This work aims to reveal how is the relationship of scholarship students with the new social and educational environment, in a private school in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. Full scholarships are offered to students in situations of economic vulnerability who wish to attend high school at the college, with this, the purpose of the research was to analyze the trajectory of this student in this environment that differs from their reality. Ten interviews were carried out with students who were former scholarship holders at the school, exploring points that marked the experience of these scholarship holders, such as the selection process, arrival at school, interaction with new colleagues and teachers, events at the school, the relationship between family with the school and the relationship between the school and their expectations for the future. The investigation carried out was qualitative, through the application of semistructured questionnaires, with emphasis on the construction of sociological portraits, seeking to establish a bridge between the microsociological and the macrosociological. Due to the context, only two interviews were carried out in person, the others were carried out through video calls on applications such as Skype and WhatsApp. With the contribution of the sociology of education, we seek to show a little of what this student lived in college, seeking to affiliate with the new environment and how much this experience was enriching the lives of these scholarship holders, however, we cannot fail to show how much the marks of the are strong in that environment, since, regardless of the will of the project managers, social separation exists within the school, because it exists outside of it.
