As mulheres e o novo cinema alemão. O surgimento da revista de crítica cinematográfica feminista alemã “Frauen und Film” na década de 1970

Abstract

With Germany divided in the post-war period, the New German Cinema emerged as a breath of fresh air in the attempt to revitalize national cinema in the West. Based on a system of state subsidies and partnerships with television, women filmmakers faced difficulties in making their productions viable and getting their projects approved. One of these articulations was the creation of the feminist film criticism journal Frauen und Film in 1974. The journal proposed to be a space that would bring together the claims of the profession in the area, discussion about its films and feminist agendas related to cinema. In their editorials it is possible to observe their concerns, which mostly involved their films, the film industry, the feminist movement, and their agendas as film and media professionals. This work proposes a look at these relations, the beginning of the magazine and how these filmmakers manifested themselves in the editorial space of the journal Frauen und Film in the 1970s.
