Clínicas Integradas em odontologia – desafios, oportunidades e perspectivas: uma revisão discutida

Abstract

How the integrated clinics in Dentistry form a challenge for higher education in the training of professionals, who learn to treat their patient's orofacials differently in the near future, increasingly allying Dentistry with new technologies. The objective of this discussed review study was to understand the concept of integrated clinic and its perspectives in line with the National Curriculum Guidelines. A systematic bibliographic survey was carried out in the following electronic databases: Lilacs, PubMed and Scielo. The Portuguese and English terms “Odontologia”, “Clínica Integrada” (integrated clinic OR clinical clerkship), “Estudos Interdisciplinares” (interdisciplinary studies), “Educação Odontológica” (from English, dental education OR health dental education) and “curriculum” were used as keywords for this research.Twenty-three articles were chosen for this review and the main ideas of the texts were extracted based on the methodologies used and the main results. The authors were unanimous in emphasizing that integrated dentistry clinics influence the training and preparation of generalist graduates through training in global, inter and multidisciplinary planning as an essential pillar for an integrative and innovative curriculum.
