O uso de memes instrutivos para o ensino de evolução humana

Abstract

The teaching of Human Evolution is considered of great importance for other areas of Biology for supporting the learning as a whole, because it possibilities as species among themselves, through their evolutionary kinship, relating other areas of Biology, such as zoology, cytology and botany. Specifically, Human Evolution allows a discussion about the way of life in society, cultural diversities and also the adaptive issues of human beings in different environments. However, the complexity and controversy surrounding this subject leads us to rethink didactic models that allow a better interaction, autonomy and, consequently, better understanding of students on this subject. Thus, a didactic sequence based on Investigative Education was created and applied, and to further increase the interest and motivation of the students, the memes were used, family resource to students. The didactic sequence followed all stages of investigative teaching and after its completion, the memes were published on an Instagram page created exclusively for this purpose. Tem memes were produced, which included contents of Human Evolution. At the end of the activities, a structured satisfaction questionnaire was applied on the Likert scale. All students considered that it was more stimulating, more interesting and easier to understand the content using investigative teaching and the creation of memes and generated more autonomy and protagonism in the learning process. It is concluded that the use of an investigative teaching approach associated with the creation of memes was able to improve the engagement and participation of students in the content of Human Evolution in high school. We also conclude that it is important that classes based on investigative teaching are introduced gradually, so that students understand their stages and objectives, thus extracting the maximum development that this type of teaching can offer students.
