| Resumo: | Este trabalho pretende abordar o surgimento das academias de arte como iniciativa para fundamentar-se cientificamente a prática artística, diferenciando-a da atividade manual, à qual os artesãos estavam ligados. Partindo da transformação ocorrida no estatuto social da arte durante o período conhecido como Renascimento, os artistas reivindicaram para a pintura e escultura um lugar entre as artes liberais. A pesquisa busca, assim, investigar como os modelos acadêmicos italiano e francês influenciaram a criação do primeiro formato de instituição para o ensino de arte no Brasil. |
| Abstract: | This work intends to approach the emergence of art academies as an initiative to scientifically base artistic practice, differentiating it from the manual activity to which artisans were linked. Starting from the transformation that took place in the social status of art during the period known as the Renaissance, artists claimed for painting and sculpture a place among the liberal arts. I seek to investigate how the Italian and French academic models influenced the creation of the first institution format for the teaching of Art in Brazil in the 19th century. |
