Abstract

Social Interest Housing projects have been the subject of several studies carried out in the academic environment. In a broad view, the search for better results in these enterprises, in addition to providing benefits to their users, also points to improvements for society. In the process of person-environment interaction, the physical space results in a significant place for the individual, this is determined by the type of relationship and emotion that the individual can establish with the physical space. The objective of the present research is to seek a possible understanding of the spatiality of the places designed for Housing of Social Interest. Assuming this, there are the differences between understanding the resident's consciousness in the objective place and the subjective existence in the midst of positioned objects that contribute to the identification of places. One is given by the place identity of the place and the other by the place identity of the subject on the place. With the environmental support of the structure proposed in the ecological development model proposed by Bronfenbrenner (1977 and 1996), the research carried out a physical-spatial characterization of housing units in residential complexes through the molar activities of their residents. The investigation is an exploratory research and uses some concepts of Environmental Psychology to approach the identity of place of the residents of Housing of Social Interest. In addition, it will deal with the spatialities of architecture and urbanism, both the physical environment and aspects of the residents' social environment. The survey data will be carried out from a documentary and empirical approach, with the organization of technical information, using architectural and urban plans (researched through surveys of official municipal files and secondary data), images location and data collected through reference surveys (where structured questionnaires, interviews, walkthroughs, and other methods were carried out).
