A importância do figurino na narrativa: novas propostas de trajes para as personagens Stella e Terra na série Fate: A Saga Winx - primeira temporada, inspirados pelas críticas dos telespectadores

Abstract

This research aims to present new costume proposals for Stella and Terra, characters in the show Fate: The Winx Saga, distributed by the streaming platform Netflix, in 2021. The show is an adaptation of the cartoon Winx Club, released in 2004 by the Italian broadcaster Rainbow. The first season of the series, consisting of 6 episodes, suffered several criticisms from the public in relation to its costumes, developed by British costume designer Catherine Adair. The project is structured through a brief history of the show, followed by bibliographic research in relation to the history of animation, adaptathion theory, the role played by costumes in a narrative, the costume designer profession, and the life and work of Catherine Adair. After the research, an analysis of the characters' costumes was carried out, followed by an investigation regarding the criticisms directed at them, and a decoupage of Stella and Terra's costumes. Then, based on the elements of Fashion Design, six new costume proposals were developed for each character, based on specific situations lived by them during the first season of the show.
