Gestão escolar e avaliação em larga escala: desafios para o desempenho de estudantes em uma escola da Rede Municipal de Ensino de São Luís

Abstract

The present study, developed within the scope of the Professional Masters in Management and Evaluation of Public Education (PPGP), of the Center for Public Policy and Education Evaluation, of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (Caed/UFJF) and linked to the Faculty of Education of The aforementioned higher institution is born from the analysis of the historical series of the performance obtained by the Cidade Olímpica Basic Education Unit, a school in the Municipal Public Education Network of São Luís, in the State of Maranhão, throughout the institution's participation in the evaluations of the Education System. Assessment of Basic Education (SAEB). Between the years 2005 to 2017, a series of variations was found in the performance data of the school institution. Thus, from a survey of contextual data from that school, it was possible to perceive some indicators of the SAEB assessments and contextual data that can justify the variations presented, including: the rate of violence in the neighborhood; the record of cases of violence that occurred inside the school; the infrastructure problems of the school building; the turnover of school managers and the lack of financial resources. Thus, a document analysis was sought, in order to build a theoretical and bibliographic framework in which to analyze the interference of these factors in the performance of students. Based on the understanding of the meaning of the data, a comparative research was carried out on the reality of school institutions that had their projects structured in the fight against violence and other situations that can be visualized and, finally, the results are presented. and propositions for the school locus of research, with the aim of improving performance in large-scale assessments based on the understanding of the institution's contextual data.
