Representações de violência de gênero em Sinfonia em branco, de Adriana Lisboa, e em Um amor incômodo, de Elena Ferrante

Abstract

This dissertation analyzes how the theme of gender violence is developed in the works Sinfonia em branco, by the Brazilian writer Adriana Lisboa, and Troubling Love, by the Italian author Elena Ferrante, in order to recognize, among the possibilities of the literature produced by women, the criticism of the authors to patriarchal society and a purpose of social transformation. In this sense, with the epistemological support of gender studies, feminist literary criticism, psychoanalysis, social sciences and philosophy, as well as consultation with data from real surveys on the various types of violence against women in the contexts of production of the novels, we propose the investigation of the repercussions, in the lives of the characters, of violence - sexual, physical and / or psychological - suffered by them in the family environment. In the study of the individual trajectories of these women /characters, traumatic characteristics are perceived, either in the psyche of the protagonists or in their bodies, whose marks the authors make explicit in the writing itself and in the formal organization of the novels. In addition, from the narratives, we reflect on the causes and consequences of gender-based violence, considering the social construction of women, the weight of institutions in maintaining the distribution of social roles according to gender, the implications of the strict division between public and private and the paradoxical blaming of victims of aggression, especially in the domestic environment. Finally, in the evaluated works, we identified the verbalization as a path chosen by the writers so that the characters can deal with their traumas, just as, often, the literary expression of female authorship can be a way to denounce violence and oppressions that many women suffer.
