Abstract: The present work is included in the field of literature teaching and applies a wonderful literature approach in elementary school, seeking to broaden or repertoire that students appreciate the narrative genre, generally acquired by reading fairy tales in childhood. The intended repertoire broadening refers to the understanding of how the fusion of the real and the wonderful operates, so common in contemporary youth narratives, seeking the literary tradition that feeds this strategy. The approach will begin with the founding work Alice in Wonderland and its rereadings by Monteiro Lobato in Snub Nose and Tim Burton in the 2010 film of the same name. The focus is on the passage from a common world to a wonderful world, through the call to traverse a kind of portal (the rabbit hole in Alice and the cave that leads to the prince-king Fish's Clearwater Kingdom in Nose), and the return to the ordinary world. In the rereading of Lobato, the marvelous becomes part of the common world, with the return of Emilia speaking, which eventually subverts the model inherited from Lewis Carroll. In Tim Burton's film, he also emphasizes the use of the mythical Hero's Journey model, as analyzed by Joseph Campbell in The Hero of a Thousand Faces, a very common model in contemporary fantasy series. The contemporary youth narrative selected for this work is the first volume of the Brazilian series The Adventures of Tibor Lobato, by Gustavo Rosseb, which dialogues directly with Monteiro Lobato's work, and is also marked by the mythical model of the Hero's Journey. We hope that the students will be able to understand the intertextual relations, both in relation to Lobato's work and in relation to the Hero's Journey, as well as the specific way of merging the real and the wonderful in this narrative. The methodology used is action research, which enables the cooperation of the teacher-researcher with the students of the sixth grade of elementary school of a state school in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. The project is anchored in the concepts of literary repertoire (Wolfgang Iser); wonderful (Vladimir Propp, Tzvetan Todorov, Nelly Novaes Rabbit); Hero's Journey (Joseph Campbell, Christopher Vogler).
