Evolução do complexo ferroviário urbano central e seu entorno na cidade de Juiz de Fora

Abstract

The railway was crucial to the emergence and development of cities and the main mode of transportation over decades. However, with the development of new means of transport the railway fell into disuse until totally disabled, which led to the abandonment or re-use of their facilities. In Juiz de Fora was no different, the city has developed around the rail area in the central area of the city. This complex had their use changed, and for this suffered a series of interventions. The aim of this study is to understand the formation and evolution of this complex, how it evolved and how this influenced the area its surrounding areas as well as the railway memory was treated during this development. As methodology were studied cases from others urban areas railway, which went through the same process for reuse, as the station d'Orsay in Paris, and others in Brazil, and was also carried survey documentary and photographic of the railroad region of Juiz de Fora. It was observed that the region lost almost entirely, your identity railway, since the development of the region did not take into consideration the history of the railroad.
