Author: Carrara, Angelo Alves
Resumo: -
Abstract: This article reviews the historiography of Brazil's population estimates for the period from 1570 until the beginning of the 18th century, with special attention to Contreiras Rodrigues, whose work became a benchmark for nearly all studies. The article also aims to compare the data with other available sources, such as tax sources, as well as to assess the validity of the proposed estimates
