O direito à angústia: as colunas de Clarice no JB como espaço político de uma subjetivação resistente

Abstract

The present work starts from the essential understanding that the perception of pain is built historically and socially to investigate the discourse of the writer Clarice Lispector in the light of a subjectivation in transformation. We raise a very specific question: what meanings of pain and suffering are mobilized by Clarice in the chronicles published in Jornal do Brasil? What disputes of meaning are played in the pages of that newspaper that collaborate with the reflections on what is the subject of the present? From Discourse Analysis point of view, we will analyze statements taken from the author's chronicles, published in her weekly column in Jornal do Brasil, between 1967 and 1973, and which are part of the semantic field of pain, suffering and anguish. Our hypothesis is that, in that space of the column, which maintained an intertextual and interdiscursive relationship with the newspaper and journalism of the time, the author may have voiced other modes of subjectivation in relation to those who would assert themselves at the time, respect to the enunciations about the malaise in contemporary societies. The assumption is that, when we interrogate ourselves about pain and suffering and its senses for the subject, we can find the very clues that mark the modes of subjectivation of a given time. The research goes through the history of the chronicle and the transformations of journalism in the country in the middle of the twentieth century; through recurrent meanings in the work of the author; through the transformations in the ways of seeing the subject and also the sufferings that affect him. The analysis begins with a brief lexicographic study, to then deal with the metaphors of pain and suffering and the presence of the "other" in the analyzed chronicles.
