Centro de Convivência do Idoso: arquitetura para a terceira idade

Abstract

In a context of growth and affirmation of the elderly population in Brazil and in the world, the development of urban equipment is necessary to meet this public in its diversity. The present work deals with the architecture directed to the third age, with focus for the Living Centers, places of strengthening of the social bonds and the citizenship of its users. Its objective is to identify the guidelines for the architectural design of Living Centers aimed at the elderly in Brazil. In order to achieve this purpose, a bibliographic review is carried out on aging in its different faces (demographic, political, biological, psychological, social), the historical transformations suffered by the spaces constructed to attend the elderly are analyzed and the physical and subjective aspects of the relationship between architecture and senior citizens are studied.
