Políticas públicas para quilombolas: a construção da cidadania na comunidade remanescente de quilombo do Baú

Abstract

This work focuses on the experience of the Baú quilombola community, located in the municipality of Araçuaí, state of Minas Gerais. The proposal of this research consists of investigating how the citizenship is configured in this quilombola territory, after the legal recognition of the State to the quilombola communities. This citizenship will be analyzed from the strategies of political action that are developed in front of the social demands and the indenitario recognition. In this sense, I intend to understand from the memory they produce, as the processes of learning about quilombola rights are built by members of the community. In the case of the present research, the intention is to intercalate the use of oral and textual sources, considering that its perspective is to deal with both aspects that involve the public policies aimed at the repair - especially those that are found in the Quilombola Brasil Program (PBQ), as well as the deployment of such policies in the organization of the Baú quilombolas, through interviews with representatives of the community. In addition, it intends to analyze the development of such policies in the administration of the municipality of Araçuaí, through the oral testimonies collected with local public agents. In this sense, to highlight the articulation between the social organization of these subjects and the public policies, can contribute to the discussions in the field of public policies and with the resignification that makes up the quilombos in the present time. I believe that this study can also confirm the historical understanding of the practices that have been attributed as necessary to citizenship education, and can therefore foster debates that seek a broader conception of the concept of citizenship.
