| Resumo: | Este estudo analisa as trajetórias e experiências de vida de nove adolescentes que cumpriram medida socioeducativa de liberdade assistida, no ano de 2007, e de suas mães. A partir da concepção segundo a qual o crime é uma construção (definição) social e não apenas uma violação das normas, almeja apurar como os próprios jovens rotulados e suas responsáveis concebem o envolvimento em atividades ilegais, o processo de condenação e a atuação do Sistema de Justiça. O levantamento de dados foi feito por meio de entrevistas em profundidade, orientadas por um roteiro semi-estruturado. Ao todo, foram realizadas dezoito entrevistas em três regionais do Programa Liberdade Assistida, em Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. Um dos principais resultados é o indicativo de que o status desviante tornou-se a referência social principal de alguns dos jovens atores entrevistados. |
| Abstract: | This paper appraises the social paths and life experiences of nine juveniles, who served a social-educative term under probation in 2007, and their mothers. Based on the notion that crime is a social construct (definition) and not a mere law-breaking behavior, this study aims at assessing how the youngsters themselves, and their parents, conceptualize the engagement in illegal activities, the sentencing process, and the role of the judicial system. Semi-structured questionnaire oriented interviews were used for data gathering. Altogether eighteen interviews were accomplished in three areas of the Attended Freedom Program in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minais Gerais. One of the main results suggests that the deviant status has become the chief social reference for some of the young respondents. |
