A marginalização cultural e criminalização do funk evidenciadas pelo massacre no baile da DZ7 em Paraisópolis

Abstract

This paper has the general objective of conducting a critical analysis of the massacre at the Baile da DZ7, demonstrating how this episode reflects the marginalization and criminalization of funk in the Brazilian context. Among the specific objectives, the following stand out: to critically present the case of the massacre, with an emphasis on the police brutality involved; to investigate the historical and cultural aspects that perpetuate the censorship and repression of funk in Brazil; and to relate the marginalization of this musical genre to cultural criminology studies through a theoretical review. This research adopts a qualitative approach and has a theoretical nature. The methodology is based on document analysis and bibliographic review, aiming to deepen the debate on the topic and construct a well-founded critical analysis. In this way, through such methodology, it was identified that the repression of funk is rooted in racial and social prejudices, reinforcing stigmas against peripheral communities. It was also evidenced, through the lens of cultural criminology, how police violence reflects social control and the oppression of Black cultures. Finally, in addition to exposing systemic strategies of exclusion, the work highlights the resistance of funk as a cultural manifestation that challenges dominant culture and structural racism.
