Ética da sexualidade e a questão do aborto em Jaime Snoek

Abstract

One of Jaime Snoek's greatest virtues is related to the research and studies he has carried out. Among his texts is the book Essay on Sexual Ethics. This dissertation seeks to interpret Jaime Snoek's perspective on human sexuality, as presented in his book. It is observed that ethical reflections are increasingly complex, encompassing issues related to social justice, bioethics and environmental ethics. Technological advances have brought new ethical dilemmas, especially in the business world, involving social aspects. Ethics have always permeated the existence of civilizations, offering guidelines for human behavior, shaping cultures and many other aspects. Ethics refers to a set of values and principles that we use to decide on the three great questions of life: I want, I should and I can. Jaime Snoek, as a scholar, not only questions the role of Sexual Ethics in the existential quests of human beings, but also proposes that ethics is a manifestation of the human tendency to seek a fuller and more meaningful life. One of his arguments is that continuous improvement and self- improvement are inherent to the human condition, reflecting a deep desire for personal and collective evolution. His work is not only a treatise on sexual ethics, but also a philosophical reflection on the role of ethics in the human journey towards a higher and more conscious way of life. Sexuality is present in the human being in its entirety. It is clear that the ethics of sexuality presented by Jaime Snoek seeks, in fact, an integration of the human being with the various realities that surround him, without him becoming a slave to his behaviors, culture or society. It is understanding that this vital force, which is human sexuality, filled with love, is what allows human beings to love and be loved, and this does not mean that there will be no suffering due to the choices and decisions made.
