| Resumo: | A monografia tem como objetivo investigar o impacto da inovação financeira na demanda por papel-moeda no Brasil. O método utilizado incluiu a análise descritiva de dados fornecidos pelo Banco Central do Brasil (BACEN) e uma revisão da literatura sobre inovações tecnológicas no setor bancário. Os resultados mostraram que o avanço de soluções digitais, como o PIX, reduziu significativamente o uso de papel-moeda, e as fintechs emergem como importantes agentes de transformação no mercado financeiro. Além disso, a pesquisa destaca que, embora o uso de dinheiro físico esteja diminuindo, não se espera sua completa extinção. A monografia sugere que a evolução tecnológica continuará moldando o sistema financeiro, exigindo adaptações em políticas e regulamentações. |
| Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to investigate the impact of financial innovation on the demand for cash in Brazil. The methodology included a descriptive analysis of data provided by the Central Bank of Brazil (BACEN) and a review of the literature on technological innovations in the banking sector. The results showed that the advancement of digital solutions, such as PIX, has significantly reduced the use of cash, and fintechs are emerging as important agents of transformation in the financial market. Furthermore, the research highlights that, although the use of physical money is declining, its complete extinction is not expected. The thesis suggests that technological evolution will continue to shape the financial system, requiring adaptations in policies and regulations. |
