O patrimônio cultural de São Thomé das Letras - MG e a comercialização de sua imagem turístico-mística: entre a resistência e a incorporação

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the sites of memory in the city of São Thomé das Letras - MG and the narratives about its cultural heritage. Therewith, we seek to list through collective memory evidence of resistance or incorporation between cultural practices that still prevail or fight for permanence amid the growing tourism with the mystical narrative. The proposed time frame is the unfolding of the 2000s to the present day, although we initially approach the process of populating the place through bibliographical reviews and then deal with the construction of the mystical narrative disseminated by the media and some case studies of local cultural manifestations, being contrasted between the narratives listed using the oral history methodology and news disseminated through newspapers and current media.
