Percepções sobre o Patrimônio Mundial em risco: o caso de Ouro Preto

Abstract

The concern with safeguarding World Heritage Sites is a topic of growing debate, since cultural assets are frequently exposed to risks. In view of this, the research addresses the concepts of world heritage in danger adopted by Unesco and the way in which the notion of risk is interpreted in the context of contemporary society, in order to reflect on the main threats and strategies for their reduction. To establish relationships and support this study, the issues surrounding the state of conservation of the historic site of Ouro Preto, the first Brazilian property to be recognized as a World Heritage Site, will be analyzed. In order to construct a more approximate analysis and correlate the perceptions of the local community of Ouro Preto with technical and theoretical conceptions, interviews and questionnaires were carried out, in addition to the creation of maps. Therefore, the search to understand perceptions surrounding risks to property guides this research.
