| Resumo: | O objetivo desta dissertação é investigar as relações entre sindicalização, densidade sindical e diferenças de salário entre os trabalhadores formalmente empregados no Brasil. Busca-se caracterizar o papel da densidade sindical nas diferenças de rendimentos, o formato desta relação e os fatores que se associam às diferenças encontradas. Utilizando a base de dados relativa a Minas Gerais para 2017 da RAIS identificada, que permite a combinação de atributos da firma e dos empregados, são feitas diversas tabulações cruzadas em uma análise descritiva e aplicados modelos econométricos. O estudo mostra que o retorno típico da densidade sindical em um modelo com controles mais rígidos é de 18,9%. Existe uma relação não linear entre densidade sindical e diferença salarial entre os empregados que atinge o seu máximo em aproximadamente 65% da densidade sindical. Ao aplicar a decomposição de Gelbach da diferença salarial bruta entre o modelo simples e o modelo linear completo, de forma mais desagregada, temos o efeito fixo do setor como a principal fonte responsável por 26,59% do efeito, seguido pelo tempo no emprego com 17,64% e educação com 16,86%. O tempo no emprego compõe um vetor de influência com os efeitos da firma que reforçaria e seria reforçado pela densidade sindical. Por fim, conclui-se que o estudo oferece uma contribuição diferenciada ao focalizar a densidade sindical e usar a decomposição de Gelbach na pesquisa de economia do trabalho em relação ao papel da sindicalização no Brasil. |
| Abstract: | The objective of this dissertation is to investigate the relationships between unionization, union density and salary differences among formally employed workers in Brazil. The aim is to characterize the role of union density in income differences, the format of this relationship and the factors associated with the differences found. Using the identified RAIS database for Minas Gerais for 2017, which allows the combination of firm and employee attributes, several cross-tabulations are carried out in a descriptive analysis and econometric models are applied. The study shows that the typical return to union density in a model with stricter controls is 18.9%. There is a non-linear relationship between union density and the wage difference between employees, which reaches its maximum at approximately 65% of union density. When applying Gelbach's decomposition of the gross wage difference between the simple model and the complete linear model, in a more disaggregated way, we have the sector fixed effect as the main source responsible for 26.59% of the effect, followed by time in employment with 17.64% and education with 16.86%. Time in employment makes up a vector of influence with the effects of the firm that would reinforce and be reinforced by union density. Finally, it is concluded that the study offers a differentiated contribution by focusing on union density and using the Gelbach decomposition in labor economics research in relation to the role of unionization in Brazil |
