Abstract

This work seeks to highlight how the female figure has been socially confined to a position of fragility and inadequacy for certain actions considered masculine. This exclusion of women from the forefront of historical events has resulted in a lack of female representation in social memory and, consequently, in historiography. During the period of the Brazilian Military Regime, many male guerrillas had their names recorded in history, generating numerous cultural works that describe their experiences in the guerrilla warfare. On the other hand, women have been silenced in documented history, necessitating the recovery and remembrance of their participation in activism, particularly in armed struggle. In this sense, this research questions the perception that feminine elements are incompatible with the fight against the regime and seeks to explore fashion and beauty as potential resources used by women in resistance. There is a clear valorization of male actions at the expense of female actions, leading representations that include women, even in secondary roles, to deny their femininity by "masculinizing" them. Therefore, the study aims to rescue and analyze the individual stories of women, along with an analysis of cultural representations, in order to understand and valorize the elements of femininity as forces of resistance and revolution in the historical context. The objective is to deconstruct gender stereotypes and promote a more inclusive view of female participation, with all its diverse representation, thus enriching historical understanding.
