“Eu sou como o polvo”: Lourenço Mutarelli e o curriculum mortis na sociedade do desempenho

Abstract

This work proposes an investigation into the fictional production of Lourenço Mutarelli, making use of interviews with the author and two of his fiction works, the books Quando meu pai se encontrou com o ET fazia um dia quente (2011) e O Natimorto – um musical silencioso (2009). The objective of this approach is to reflect on how the author undertakes performative narratives based on his interviews, graphic production and literary writing, in which there is a tension between word and image. These two categories, present throughout Mutarelli’s work, are explored from an ethical posture, in which the emergence of fables and the imaginary becomes essential in contemporary times, as we live in a time when media images expand into almost all human domains, overloading our perceptive capacity and resulting in the absence of awareness about our own bodies. Bringing the discourse of failure as a tonic, Mutarelli continuously produces and shares his curriculum mortis (KONDER, 1983) throughout his work, with the discourse of failure as its tonic. Faced with these questions, the theoretical-analytical perspective of this thesis makes use of texts from the areas of literature, philosophy and image and media studies.
