Turismo de base comunitária no entorno de unidades de conservação de Minas Gerais: valorização e protagonismo comunitário

Abstract

Community Based Tourism (CBT) is an alternative model of tourism that has been gaining space both in the academic area and in the practical field, associated with those involved in this activity. As tourism has been restructuring values, customs and habits of local society, Community Based Tourism establishes a new form of organization/management of tourist activity, giving local communities the role of protagonists and main actors in the supply of products and/or service of tourist services, as well as the appreciation of traditional culture and the preservation of biodiversity. As a result, communities residing around Conservation Units (CU) are also starting to think about the subject and gradually developing activities related to TBC. In this context, this work aims to address, through an exploratory character, further discussions on the subject, in order to promote an understanding of the theme around three selected Conservation Units in Minas Gerais, analyzing how local communities are inserted in the participation of this tourist sector.
