| Resumo: | O presente trabalho objetiva investigar a utilização da robótica socialmente assistiva em pacientes idosos, tendo em vista sua presumida vulnerabilidade. A despeito da ampla aplicabilidade e dos benefícios já relatados na literatura sobre esse tipo de intervenção, analisa-se a existência de questões éticas que, caso não enfrentadas, podem comprometer não somente o objetivo da terapia, mas também os direitos daqueles que possuem idade igual ou superior a sessenta anos. Para além disso, discute-se os problemas envolvendo a regulação desse ramo da tecnologia, com sucinto estudo de caso da criação de personalidade jurídica eletrônica para robôs dotados de inteligência artificial, proposta pelo Parlamento Europeu. |
| Abstract: | This paper aims to investigate the use of socially assistive robotics in elderly patients, considering their presumed vulnerability. Despite the wide applicability and benefits already reported in the literature about this type of intervention, it is analyzed the existence of ethical issues that, if not addressed, may compromise not only the goal of the therapy, but also the rights of those who are sixty years old or older. Furthermore, the problems involving the regulation of this branch of technology are discussed, with a brief case study of the creation of electronic legal personality for robots endowed with artificial intelligence, as proposed by the European Parliament. |
