Abstract

This thesis seeks to understand how the production of value in the illicit drug market takes place and how this market contributes to curbing the downward trends in the rate of profit. Based on the Marxian theory of the value of work and on theoretical and documentary research, using data obtained from the main trafficking control agencies, it can be seen that, although drug trafficking moves billions of dollars annually around the world, the effective production This value/wealth occurs in industries located in the peripheral regions of the poorest countries, passing through the clandestine transport industry, and it uses mainly unskilled, unemployed labor, abundant in these countries. Despite generating countless jobs, drug trafficking acts illegally and has become one of the greatest enemies to be fought by national states. Based on the research carried out, we found that, contrary to what is observed in modern industries, which expel workers from factories and replace them with machines, trafficking has become an alternative to economic crises, especially in the context of work, since that the organic composition of its capital allows it to employ countless workers, from industry to commerce. In addition to generating several jobs, trafficking enables capital to recover its growth rates, or simply to curb the downward trend in the rate of profit, as it uses workers who make up the industrial reserve army, paying lower wages and with a more incisive level of exploration on this mass, allowing for greater extraction of surplus-value.
