Às (as) margens da língua: faces do deslocamento no universo estético de Sylvia Molloy e Laura Alcoba

Abstract

This work aims to make a compared analysis between the works of two Argentinian writers, Sylvia Molloy and Laura Alcoba, who have lived outside the country for decades. The authors discuss in their writing the relations between subjectivity, territory and language[s] regarding different sides of displacement, experienced and treated by each author under a particular bias as well as keeping close relationships with regard to the importance of memory – and forgetting -, of reading and writing as ways of inscribing in certain networks of meaning and affiliations. Therefore, we centered our analytical path on the following books: El común olvido (2002) by Sylvia Molloy which constitutes the thread from which we weave relationships with other texts written by her, notably, Vivir entre lenguas (2015), Desarticulaciones (2010), Em breve cárcere (1995[1981]) and Citas de lectura (2017). Taking into account Laura Alcoba’s writings, the corpus includes La casa de los conejos (2008), El azul de las abejas (2014) and La danza de la araña (2017). It is important to enhance that all of them were originally published in French in 2007, 2013 and 2017 respectively. The mapping of paths and procedures intends to show how writing practice, permeated by experience, reinvents ties with the national territory and with literary field. It is the text, woven with patches, fragments, absences and silences, that forges a place from which they draw other landscapes and find unique ways to express pain, wound, fear, losses and human nakedness. From this place, on the margins of language without however abandoning it, there is a possibility of listening that is also hospitality to what those who were prevented from speaking have to say.
