Mapeamento do setor educacional de Juiz de Fora : a educação como vetor de desenvolvimento local

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the educational sector of Juiz de Fora in order to investigate whether the city can be considered an educational center in the region and whether it contributes to local development. From a quantitative and qualitative point of view, a descriptive documentary research was carried out by collecting data related to the sector, such as the number of basic and higher education establishments, number of enrollments, graduates, teachers, as well as average income and information on direct areas. or indirectly linked to the education sector. It was possible to verify that the sector is an educational center in the region and contributes at various levels to the development of the city. The concept of Local Productive Arrangements was also addressed, but the work does not propose to state whether the educational sector can be characterized as one of these arrangements, despite the data indicating that it is fundamental for the emergence or maintenance of other arrangements. Not all theoretical references are used for the main objective of the work, but they were inserted to raise questions relevant to education. The results are relevant to possibly direct decision-making by public policy planners towards the educational sector, in addition to contributing to the knowledge of the sector in the city.
