O extrativismo mineral latino-americano sob a ótica de Gudynas e a violação de direitos humanos no caso da Hydro-Alunorte em Barcarena, no Pará

Abstract

This paper aims to make a case study of Human Rights violations that consists of the overflow of residues that came from the company Hydro-Alunorte, which took place in Barcarena, in the state of Pará. For this purpose, the evolution of the international protection of Environmental Rights and its fit as one of the fundamental human rights will be analyzed. Furthermore, it intends to dialogue with Latin American extractivism, taking it as a theoretical reference, based on the lessons of the uruguayan author Eduardo Gudynas. Moreover, from the perspective of this author, some important concepts will be addressed in order to clarify the impact of mineral extraction activity in the relationship of society with each other and in relation to Nature. Finally, a brief analysis of Hydro-Alunorte's business composition will be made as an example of the difficulty in holding transnational corporations to account and how the brazilian institutional performance contributed to the production of yet another environmental disaster. Bibliographical review, consultation of documentary sources and a case study were the methodology adopted.
