| Resumo: | O objetivo desse trabalho foi realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre os possíveis benefícios de associar a terapia periodontal convencional com a terapia fotodinâmica, pela qual um agente fotossensibilizador liga-se a célula alvo e é ativado pela luz ressonante ao agente. Com base na literatura revisada, viu-se que existem benefícios ao associar as terapias, mas ainda há a necessidade de realizar maiores estudos, principalmente que visem desenvolver um protocolo de uso e que as técnicas de tratamento não invasivas estão avançando. No entanto, a terapia convencional ainda continua sendo uma opção muito útil e eficaz. |
| Abstract: | The objective of this work was to conduct a literature review on the possible benefits of associating conventional periodontal therapy with photodynamic therapy, through which a photosensitizing agent binds to the target cell and is activated by the agent's resonant light. Based on the reviewed literature, we could see there are benefits to associating therapies, but there is still a need for further studies, mainly to develop a use protocol and which kind of non-invasive treatment techniques are advancing. Nevertheless conventional therapy still remains a very useful and effective option to be adopted. |
