Abstract

The present work is an attempt to put in perspective some methods of knowledge production; generalized, here, in two large groups: the scientific and the poetic. The text was structured in six parts, each adopting style, typology, formatting and diagramming specific to the methodology from which they derive: Essay, Diary, Geometric exhibition, Mythic narrative in verse, Poetry and hand-draft; being that within the fluency of the full text, the methods, and, therefore, languages, mix and cancel each other in an attempt to approach an object that is always elusive. It is a text that seeks to fit into the “creative writing” line of work proposed by the program, although it does not neglect the rigor of thematic research. The title refers to a medical term, autoimmunity, which comprises diseases that confuse our immune system, causing our body to attack healthy cells instead of infected ones. In terms of our work, the idea was to expose textually and graphically a type of “cognitive infection” in which one object of study transforms us into another, and another, successively, method after method, destroying them to the same extent that it evokes them. An object that destroys us (autoimmune) while we try to dissect it (study it). Quite opportunely, the objects by which we chose to discuss these forms of knowledge production were two key moments in the biblical narratives: the temptation of Adam (anthropogony of Genesis) and the temptation of Jesus in the desert (Gospel of Matthew), the two moments when we are invited to choose salvation (submission to the divine language - Covenant) or condemnation (use of na alternate language - diabolical).
