Transpondo horizontes: a proposta de integração entre ciência e religião em Ken Wilber

Abstract

This work has for objective to approach the relation between science and religion in the thought of Ken Wilber. They are the two starting points of this work: the first one is an examination that if it could call a historical briefing of the relations between science and religion; as, the not less important one, is a summarized presentation of the life and work of the author to the academic universe. For Wilber, it does not have, in modern world, more important issue that the relation between science and religion. For him, science is domain of the "truth" and the religion ig the domain of the "meaning ". The objective of the wilberian theory of integration between science and religion is to demonstrate that the essence of the religion is the spiritual realm, essentially mystic, and that the essence of the scientific method is an ample empiricism of all and any experience, physical, mental or spiritual. Thus the religious or spiritual realm would be submitted, such as the most phenomena investigated for science, to the severities of the empiricist-experimental method. It is what Wilber calls "the marriage of the sense and soul", or either, the integration between science and religion, truth and meaning.
