Possibilidades e desafios da justiça restaurativa como ferramenta para a diminuição da reincidência no sistema socioeducativo: a experiência de Governador Valadares

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the Brazilian socio-educational system and Restorative Justice (RJ) as a potential mechanism for enhancing social reintegration. It stems from the issue of the low effectiveness of the traditional model, evidenced by system reentry rates, to investigate how restorative practices can act as a paradigm capable of interrupting offending trajectories and promoting the pedagogical accountability of the adolescent. The central objective is to demonstrate how the principles of RJ can offer more appropriate responses to the unique condition of a developing person, which can be more beneficial than a merely retributive system. The methodology is based on a literature review, analysis of statistical data from the National Justice Council, and a case study focused on the judicial district of Governador Valadares.
