A patrimonialização e a gestão do patrimônio cultural em Visconde do Rio Branco – Minas Gerais (1985-2015)

Abstract

The development of the 1988 Constitutional Charter brought to the Brazilian society new perspectives, presenting itself as a reflection of debates and political and social groupings that happened during the 1980’s and were materialized with the redemocratization of the country in 1985. This research attempts to understand the management and patrimonialization process of the cultural heritage of the city, what the means developed for its protection are, besides identifying collective memories defined from incorporating cultural goods that are important to the history of Visconde do Rio Branco. We also tried to analyze how locals were involved in establishing the directives and preservation resources established from a local protection policy definition, through deem buildings as cultural heritage and inventories made up to guarantee maintenance and preservation of this cultural goods. It is necessary to analyze to what extent this moment made effective changes in the preservation possible, understanding whether there was actually the appreciation of the Brazilian social identities. The research purpose is to understand this situation within the reality of the municipality of Visconde do Rio Branco, one of the first of Minas Gerais state to implement a policy of protection of its cultural heritage, not to mention the baroque and "historical" of State.
