A reprovação, evasão e abandono no ensino médio noturno de uma escola estadual do Amazonas

Abstract

The present dissertation is developed under the Professional Master in Management and Evaluation of Education of the Professional Postgraduate Program (PPGP) of the Center for Public Policies and Education Evaluation of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (CAED / UFJF). The management case studied highlights a school in the interior of the state of Amazonas that has been showing high rates of disapproval, avoidance and abandonment (when the student does not attend classes) in High School. The objectives defined for this study were: to investigate the causes for the high failure rates, dropout and dropout of the study in the given shift in the school in question and to elaborate an Educational Action Plan aiming at offering a better quality teaching to the students, applying the Principles of quality and equity. The research problem was analyzed in the light of theorists who discuss the subject and proposals were presented in order to take into account the specific context of the school, aiming to offer means of intervention aimed at improving school performance. For that, we used as methodology the qualitative research and, as instruments, interviews and information collection in the school office. From the analysis of the obtained data, we find the following findings of the research in the offer of the Night Middle School: the same curricular proposal of the daytime; Little support from SEDUC / AM; The Amazonas education network does not have a public policy for the Night School; The school object of research does not have a management team that focuses on the pedagogic doing; Lack of student interest; Pedagogical didactic problems of some teachers; Students involved with drugs; teenage pregnancy; Lack of structure in school (sports court, laboratories, cafeteria, auditorium); Nonuse of the library and computer room; Irregularity in the supply of snacks and school transportation; The rates of disapproval decreased in the morning and at night, however, those in the night were still higher than in the morning; Dropout and dropout rates increased both in the morning and at night; However, those at night are still superior. The proposed Educational Action Plan presents three actions: the holding of a seminar for the reorganization of the high school curriculum of the night school; The constitution of a management team for the school; Administrative and pedagogical intervention subdivided into six sub-actions aimed at facing the administrative and pedagogical problems found in the research.
