O Serviço Social na Defensoria Pública da União: as particularidades da intervenção profissional em um espaço sócio-ocupacional caracterizado pela defesa de direitos

Abstract

This dissertation approaches Social Services in Public Defender Union, comprehending this socio-occupational space as a mediation that is related to the complex of rights. In the first chapter, we present our reflection on the social complex of right, based on the lukacsian theory, as well as its legal-normative expression in the Brazilian Constitution, with emphasis on the Federal Constitution of 1988, which establishes Public Defenders. In the following chapter, we portray the Public Defender and comprehend its inclusion in the socio-legal field. Therefore, through the contemporary bibliography, we synthetically expose the academic debate about this field that converses directly with the ethical-political project of Brazilian Social Services and also with the professional intervention. Finally, in the last two chapters, we highlight the peculiarity of professional intervention in Public Defender Union, through the systemization and analysis of data collected, through empirical research with the social workers who act, in Brazil, in the socio-occupational space that includes all regions of the federations. In response, we identify elements that point to the contradictory character of this space that is characterized by rights of defense while it is permeated by all the inherent limits in current social order. These are the circumstances in which the social workers are find themselves and they are challenged to develop a daily work that meets the commitment of Ethical-Political Project of profession that reveals a progressive and democratic north that conflicts with the guidelines imposed by capitalism.
