Limites e possibilidades de efetivação do cuidado ao portador de transtorno mental na atenção básica

Abstract

This study focuses attention on the care of Mental Illness Holder – MIH in basic attention programs, particulary in the Family Health Strategy – FHS in the city of Timóteo/MG, as well as, on the indentification of the possibilities and limits that are present in the routine of basic attention professionals on the effectiveness of the attention. A problematization of the new proposals of the Psychiatric Reform on the light of the complete assistance and the role of basic attention of FHS concerning MIH was searched, considering they share the same fundamental principles, such as: the link, responsabilization and reception. Therefore, from a critical perspective, the work covers the changes on the care of MIH and a research with FHS professionals and local Social Service and Health staff was made. Some contributions for reflection about the care of MIH in the basic attention were presented, and analitical categories from the historical materialism were extracted and can contribute in the effectiveness of care at FHS and the organization of the work. With the analysis of the collected data, this study verifies that basic attention professional don’t provide the care to MIH but just send the patients to the mental health service of reference wich don’t know about Psychiatric Reform or about the changes in the field of care.
