Abstract

This research gas the aim of analyzing the speech of the regional elite of the South of Minas Gerais in the regional newspapers concerning the transition of the labor between 1870 and 1918. We believed that the analysis will reveal us which the interests and strategies used by the producing and political groups to petition the transition of the labor in Minas Gerais. Through the analysis of the different projects about the transition of the labor in the area, we entrusted to be possible to identify the actors and your speeches for best to understand as it felt the modernization of the labor market inside the country and your insert in the world capitalism. We marked the importance of the area in evidence. The south of Minas Gerais stood out for it demographic extension and great political representation, so much in the level state, as national. Economically also dynamics was shown, due to your traditional agricultural vocation gone back to the internal provisioning, and, on the other side, the captivating expansion of the coffee in its territory, together of the expansion of the lines of iron was known.
