A inserção da educação financeira em um curso de serviço de matemática financeira para graduandos de um curso de administração

Abstract

The qualitative study, as presented here, has as its central theme financial education. The purpose was to investigate whether the application of a financial mathematics service course for students of higher education. As a course for directors, including in its core, financial education themes, can awaken a critical spirit, in making decisions and attitudes, these future managers entered in a consumer society. To suggest the structure of this course, investigative activities were developed that were simultaneously applied to the classes, that promoted a greater interaction for students with topics such as: the definition and objectives of financial education, the functioning of credit card, financing and consortia, savings, cash payments or the long term, inflation and purchasing power. The critical mathematics education ideas of Ole Skovsmose, the thesis of Kistemann Jr. (2011), on the production of meaning and making consumers-individuals-making and the definition of the current traditional teaching (ETV), and Silva (2011), the elements that supported the composition of this work. In addition, we used a case study as a methodological procedure, based on the works of Ponte and Yin, which validated the analysis of the profiles of the subjects and the responses found in activities developed, it verified the importance of promoting about discussions the topics of financial education and the development of a critical mathematics education in the improvement of the critical spirit of the graduates. From the results achieved in this research, the importance of mathematics teaching was observed for non-mathematicians, through service courses, developing a participation and a greater involvement of students, moreover, it can be seen that the awakening of critical positioning, which consisted of discussions of financial education themes. Realizing this research and with the with the intention of offering resources for further discussion and dissemination of issues of financial education, this research has produced a short course that includes this theme for administration graduate students.
